Perfect timing! The priests were breathing fresh air after a sumptuous dinner with the archbishop. In the parking lot, they pulled out their vestments for the Chrism mass from their vehicles. And two ladies standing holding a white box containing handmade rosaries. The “Rosary Ladies” offered the priests handmade rosaries to be distributed in the various parishes across the Archdiocese of Grouard-McLennan, Canada.

The ladies choose chrism mass day to gift these rosaries to the priests who can offer it to people in their mission parishes. The material is ordered from the United States and assembled with prayer and dedication.

“Love at Work” catches your attention on a neatly folded paper with instructions on how to pray the rosary. One can find who made the rosary with the contact details. It is a Club du Rosaire.

“At one time we were more than forty women,” Jeannette says with a smile.

Lena Boily is accompanying Jeannette. I met Lena’s sister right after the chrism mass holding another white box to be offered to a priest who did not get one. She remembers preparing rosaries since her son was born. “It must be forty years, she says. “It’s easy, I remember the age of my son.”

Yes, my autocorrect function is suggesting to replace the word Rosary Club with Rotary. It is saying it is out of context. Yet, these women bear testimony that rosary is always part of life.
